GraceSoft Core, Day 8: I Built a Timeline to See the Life of Data
Once I’d added context, I still felt something was missing. Data isn’t static. It changes over time.
So I asked:
What if I could see the history of a piece of data?
The idea: a Data Timeline
For each user, it shows:
- When data was created
- When it was updated
- Whether it came from Stripe or Postmark
- Who triggered the change (an admin or the system)
Why this is powerful
Instead of guessing “What happened here?”, you can now see exactly what happened.
Debugging gets easier
It also changed how I debug. Instead of digging through logs and checking several systems, I can just look at the timeline.
An unexpected benefit
This isn’t only a dev feature. It also helps with audits, compliance and support.
