AI Taking Over the World? Not on My Watch

I hit another snag with AI while vibe coding today.

One clear rule

I was building an admin panel for GraceSoft Prayer, a web app I just launched. I gave the AI one clear rule: create a way to set up a single admin account, and only one admin can exist at any time.

A solution that looked right on paper

It delivered an interactive, console-only Artisan command. That looks fine on paper, except every Laravel project I build is hosted on Laravel Cloud, and that command doesn’t run interactively in the Laravel Cloud console.

The code wasn’t wrong, exactly. It just solved the problem for an environment I don’t use.

The takeaway

AI is a powerful collaborator, but it only knows the context you give it. It won’t ask where your app is deployed, so you have to tell it. Your environment, your constraints, and your judgement still matter.

So is AI about to take over the world? After today, I’m very doubtful. 😄
